Of course, what sounds fantastic to me might sound like absolute garbage to you, so I'd advise only using these settings as a rough guideline for your work. I use either the Vox AC15TB or Vox AC30 models, and the tones I get with those settings are incredible. Anyway, I set treble at about 5, mid at 4, bass at 2.5 (because there's no sense recording with lots of bass just to eq it out later), presence at full, gain at 3.5, and VR gain at full. I always use manual mode, and never the presets. I set it up just like I would an amp with a few effects in front. The ST is missing a couple of my favorite effects (Energizer and Blues Driver) but what is there should still cover a ton of ground. The compressor effect is very good for clean and low gain tones. However these are by no means the only "good" ones. For cabs I like the Tweed 1x12 and V30 4x12.
Some of my favorite amp models in there are the Dumble Clean, Twin Reverb, Plexi, JCM800, Bogner Ecstasy, and Peavey 5150. Put that together with the manual and you should be able to get going. This guy put together a graphic showing all the amp and cab models. I think you'd be better off going to the knobs yourself rather than depending on others' patches. It's also WAY easy to dial in compared to other modelers out there. It technically belongs to my son, but it's a fun little box with tons of great tones inside and I like to play through it. I have a Tonelab EX, which is the ST's slightly bigger brother. It's a shame as it ruins the Marshall cleans in the clip, and you can still hear the skipping in those sections too.

Sorry about the very watery quality in parts I forgot to turn off my WLAN drivers which cause pop and click during recording(any kind of recording, and some playback, causes latency spikes) so I applied a pop click filter. I can do the Fender tones too if you like. The low gain JCM800 is dead on for a Smashing Pumpkins dirty clean, a little more gain on the bridge pickup and you can get some great classic rock tones. I don't really play or learn songs that much and I couldn't think of anything fitting. I butcher a couple of songs through this. I also go through the Plexi and Bluesbreaker settings, and Low Gain JCM800.

It's full of weird inaccuracies like this, meaning you can never get it dead on but there's tons of great sounds to be had if you have the patience. The JCM800 sounds way better through the 1x12 Vox speaker. The AC30 however sounds great when I put it through the Vox 4x12 speaker instead of the 2x12, and more like an AC30 really. You can see it goes crazy when I go into AC30 mode.
